Airborne
landings on Normandy
6 June 1944
On the
night of June 6th paratroopers of the 101st and 82nd
Airborne division jumped over the fields of Normandy. Their objective was to
secure 4 causeway exits behind Utah beach, capture Sainte-Mère-Église, Sainte-Marie-du-Mont
and stop any German reinforcements, but due to bad weather and flak fire they
were largely scattered.
